By the efforts of Shri Ganga Sabha, a strict rule was enforced to prohibit leather belts, shoes, chappals and sandals in the premises of Harki Pauri. Also, the cinema advertising within the premises of Harki Pauri was also stopped.
In the year 1935, a Katha Satyagraha Movement was started by Shri Ganga Sabha to oppose the prohibition of religious activities in the Har Ki Pauri premises by then Municipal Corporation and after a long agitation an amendment was passed in the municipal bylaws that legally authorized Shri Ganga Sabha to conduct religious activities in the Har Ki Pauri premises.escription
In the year 1937, construction of asthi pravah ghat at Har Ki Pauri was completed by Shri Ganga Sabha after a successful asthi prvah movement.Description
Marble Statue of Shri Ganga Sabha founder Bharat Ratna Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya was installed on the clocktower island at Har Ki Pauri and the island was renamed as ‘Malviya Dweep’.
After the continuous efforts of Shri Ganga Sabha, Govt of India declared entire Haridwar city a dry area and since, then consumption of non-veg and alcohol in the Haridwar City was completely prohibited. Also, fishing in Haridwar was banned and considered as criminal offense.
Due to the ever increasing need of larger space at Har Ki Pauri, expansion of old ghats and construction of a new ghat was completed by Shri Ganga Sabha in 1938.

For the convenience of pilgrims Shri Ganga Sabha Guest House was established in 1978.
By the efforts of Shri Ganga Sabha and contribution of Hinduja Foundation (Mumbai), construction of ‘Mahila Ghat’ was completed in 1986. It was inaugurated by then Prime Minister Mr. Rajiv Gandhi.
In the year 1993, for social welfare a free ambulance service was started by Shri Ganga Sabha.
A free funeral vehicle was started by Shri Ganga Sabha in the year 1996.
Since 2011, every day just before Ganga Aarti an oath taking ritual is conducted by Shri Ganga Sabha where all the pilgrims take an oath for pollution free river Ganga, according to an estimate till now more than 2.5 million people has taken this oath.
